Ok. Yes, the decor was all put together by a salesclerk at Hobby Lobby. But once you get past that, the food, staff, and vibe are so nice for SW Springs. A much needed addition and upgrade to the 8th street corridor. Younger crowd than Walter's and you can feed five for the price of one glass of wine at Carlos Miguel's. Go!

Outstanding service and food quality. The aroma of pepper steak prepared table side greeted us upon entering as did Joseph. My wife had steak Diane and I loved the chicken breast stuffed with crab. Bananas foster was the perfect ending to a lovely dinner.

Went to Josephs today for a business lunch. This was my first visit there. The service was good, and it was quiet - perfect for a business lunch. No constant interuptions. We were seated immediately and they asked us where we would like to sit at. Our waiter was nice and friendly. The quality of the food is good: fresh, great taste, and served on a nicely decorated plate. Shows me that they take pride in their food. The prices are okay, not too expensive. I will definitely go back, want to show this place to my wife. I can recommend Josephs for the great food & service, and if you're looking for a quiet place where you can actually have a conversation. Big plus in my opinion: no TV's in every corner! So why only four stars? I asked for more bread and the guy just kind of nodded and then brought it, put it on our table without a word. Acted like I asked for another meal for free! Then I looked - and it was just one piece of bread!! Because I was the one who had asked he only brought one piece for me. So my business partner and I broke it in half and shared. Come on Josephs - don't be cheap on the bread!! But that's just a minor issue: it's still a great place for a nice meal!

We were underwhelmed when we dined here last night. The parking was ample and the building was nice. The service was good but not great. We started with the seafood platter and really liked the shrimp and crab stuffed mushroom but the calamari was rubbery. I had the house salad with the citrus house dressing and didn't really care for it as the dressing just tasted like lemon and honey mixed together. We asked for medium pepper flambé steaks and got them medium well though they were tasty. The carrots were hard and we were just done with this place by that time. It's a disappointment because of the price paid for these underwhelming meals and because our previous favorite place Peppertree went down hill in service and quality.

This restaurant has some good food. The ambience and decor is a bit forgettable but I am always in it for the food. I came for dinner and had the lamb chops, fiancee had the scallops and both were delicious. The only knock was that I was sitting at the end of a restaurant and as the sun was setting, it blasted me through a window in the ceiling. You would think you would cover that up and have a curtain or something because it has to be a reoccurring problem. Overall though I would definitely come back again.

Joseph's is now across the street from the old location in a custom-built building. All of the things I loved about the old Joseph's are still here--the flambe spinach salad, the table-side prepared pepper steak, the wonderful staff, Joseph's warm presence. The menu is somewhat expanded, but the most wonderful change is the lunch menu. It has REALLY expanded and now we go for lunch too! Joseph's sister, who serves the entire operation was supposedly leaving prior to Joseph's moving to the new location. It was such a wonderful surprise to hear her voice when making reservations at the new restaurant. It was even more wonderful to be greeted by her friendly smile. I think I might take myself here for my birthday!

Hmm, I was teetering between a 3 and 4 star rating for Joseph's. But reminiscing about the food brings me to a 4 star rating. Every time that we've been to Joseph's we have had a half-off coupon or bought a Groupon coupon. I don't know that the food, ambiance, and service is worth paying full price. This last visit our server seemed to be trying way too hard to be suave and fancy. It was just awkward. Plus even with his trying to be sophisticated he didn't have all the answers to our simple questions. Our appetizers: Jalapeno-Artichoke Stuffed Mushrooms and the Goat Cheese Bruschetta were awesome! (see photo) My entree, Chicken Madiera, was also excellent. Perfectly cooked and savory. (see photo). I typically try to be more adventurous when dining at a fancy place, but I'm glad I went with the chicken. My wife's fish entree was just ok. Two last thoughts, ok three... Just because you're a "fancy" restaurant doesn't mean you have to gouge customers for drinking a soft drink ($3.75?! Really?!). You really should expand your Colorado craft brew repertoire, there are so many good beers to choose from - add them to your menu. I'm looking forward to the new Joseph's location; it is just across the street and is slated to be open either late summer or early fall 2014.

Went with my family while I was in town visiting and the food was great, however the service was very lacking. After we arrived and ordered drinks, it took 40 minutes to have our order taken and we weren't offered anything by means of an apology. I've heard that past experiences have been much better and am happy to give it another shot. Maybe they were just short-staffed.

Our experience at Joseph's was well below average to restaurants in the area. We arrived 3min early for our dinner reservation and were asked if we would like a table in the corner versus the center of the room, we said yes and had to wait 10min to be seated. Our table was in the corner next to a wall divider for the kitchen. The hostess gave us menus but they were quickly taken away due to us having a living social deal. We were given a new printed menu with only 3 choices of food. Our orders were taken and the wiring game began. 25min for our appetizers to arrive, another 40min for main course, and then we were finished our food for over 20min before they took our plates away. Living social shouldn't make you a second class guest. But it did here. Our first and last visit!
(2)Kurt P.
New location has a much nicer atmosphere and better parking. Food is about the same, which is average for the price you pay. Lots of seafood on the menu. Wait-staff is hardly attentive, and you're lucky to see them when you need something like a water refill. Bread at the table is warmed but has a harder crust, if you like that- I don't. When you see the wait-staff, they are very friendly. The bar looks fantastic and they have a strong wine list. No kids menu, but the wait staff was nice to the kiddos. Outdoor seating was nice in the summer, but your view of the mountains is blocked by a barrier which I assume is erected to block the road noise from the traffic nearby. Probably... A glass drain would have been better.

Terrible service, mediocre food at best and no interesting ambiance to make up for either. My fiancé and I bought a living social deal to give this place a try. We showed up a couple minutes before our reservation and were seated 10 min after our reservation time. The deal said to show the waiter before ordering so as soon as we were seated I did. The waiter looked down his nose at us, took our menus away and promptly handed us bright lime green sheets of paper with 2 appetizer options, 3 entrees and 2 dessert options. 20 or so minutes later someone finally took our order. I tried the jalapeño stuffed mushrooms while my fiancé had the chicken vegetable soup. We were both underwhelmed. We sat and stared at empty plates for 15 minutes before they were cleared and then waited 20 more for my over cooked salmon and my fiancé's fig and bacon stuffed chicken, also over done, definitely no bacon. Another 20 to 30 min wait for mediocre mousse and I will never ever be going back to try Joseph's. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Average ingredients prepared well. The tin can flavor on our salads was a big turnoff. Mandarin oranges are in season, peel one! The Bananas Foster was below average as was the coffee. We won't be back but wish them well. Once again, proof that it's hard to get quality, full flavor ingredients consistently here in the Springs.

Like many other reviewers I tried this place because of a Groupon. I've lived here nearly all my life so I've always wanted to try Joseph's. It didn't live up to its reputation as far as I'm concerned. We were seated and given menus. When I let the hostess know we had a Groupon she swept the leather bound menus away and gave us a paper print out menu for Groupon offers. Fine. She also gave us the option of ordering from the nice menu and just reducing our final bill by the Groupon price. Nah. We stuck with our deal. My salmon was really good in fact some of the best I've had however my companion did not care for his meal. Neither of us can remember what it was in fact. At any rate, I expected better? We ordered a bottle of wine to have with dinner almost because we felt as if we'd get more respect if we went off the Groupon deal. We kinda did too but should that be the point? I don't think so. The deal came with apps, entree and dessert. After waiting a long time we gave up on ever seeing dessert and left. By the way, we spent $60 on top of the Groupon deal. Might give the new location a try and if so will update this review.

Fantastic food at a beautiful new location. The only problem is figuring out what to order -- everything I've had so far is delicious. This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants in Colorado Springs. I'm not sure but I think my waiter was the owner of the restaurant (Joseph). How cool is that? It's not cheap, but the price is reasonable given the high quality of the food, service, and ambiance.
(5)Steph M.
This place is amazing!! I have been to most the fine dining in the Springs and I think Joseph's is one of the best. Not only is the food good but the people that work there are so nice. I would highly recommend this place.
(5)Vicki T.
This is the first place that I think about when it comes to picking a great restaurant to celebrate at. We ate here this evening and had a very good meal. I had the steak that was cooked tableside and it is one of the best steaks I have ever had. This place is very pricey but worth every penny. We have eaten here three times and every time the food has been excellent. My only complaint is that they charge a five dollar split plate fee. I ordered a full price meal for my daughters and it was recommended that they share the meal. I did not expect to get hit with a five dollar split plate fee.

First off, I would like to disclose my addiction to Groupon/Living Social. It's a good opportunity to try places that I might not otherwise think about going to, like Joseph's. The pretentious host who (lucky him!) ended up being our waiter was not very cool about the living social thing. He was all, SIGH, Ugggh you don't have a reservation? Let me make sure you can use it. (What? Why not? It didn't indicate any special restrictions on the website...) Another couple came in at the same time as we did. Similar attire, they had clearly also come from workplaces like we did, similar in age... young professionals, right? and were treated much better than we were. They were seated right away and fussed over while we stood awkwardly in the entry waiting to know if we would make the cut. We were eventually escorted to our table with special hobo living social menus. We ordered a bottle of wine and made our selections. We secretly were diabolically happy when the aforementioned couple announced that they also had a living Social coupon and you could tell the staff was annoyed for their wasted effort and quickly snatched up their menus. haha. The food was good... not particularly memorable or incredible. I made a way better choice than my date- I got the (perfectly cooked and delicious!) steak and he got the pork, which he said was underwhelming. Joseph was hovering around the tables, and at the end of the meal he came over and asked us how our meal was. How nice! But then he was all, you need to come back and pay full price next time! That was off-putting. We bought wine, we over-tipped... and were kind of treated like under-people. Joseph's clearly a well-meaning guy but the combined interactions with him and his staff were awkward and didn't leave me dazzled. I waffled between 2 and 3 stars on this one.

I was really excited to try this place. The owner just openned a new location directly across the street from his old facility. The decor was nice but did not have the feel of an elegant nice restaurant. My wife and i both had a filet and salads that we found to be a bit on the pricey side. The filet was a nice cut of meat and cooked perfectly and came with mashed potatoes and some vegies. The mashed potatoes tasted a bit fishy and the vegies were steamed but under cooked for me. The cesar salads were good but i was not a big fan of the flavor of the dressing, seemed like it was not blended correctly. Ok place for a nice meal but not high on the list for a top end anniversary or special occasion out. Maybe after they settle in with the new facility we will try them again.

This was my first visit to Joseph's after driving by the old location and now the NEW location, and I was curious about it. Love the new space! Very nicely done inside and the bar looked comfy and inviting. It was a quiet, cold Monday night and they were not that busy because of the weather. We were greeted by Joseph himself (a nice touch) and shown to our table. My companion suggested the table side prepared hot spinach salad. It was amazing. I ordered the lamb chops and my dining companion had the lemon dover sole special. My only issue is the the entrees did not state on the menu what they would be served with - my lamb and her fish both came atop a mashed potato "braid" with 2 baby carrots and 2 spears of asparagus. Lamb and fish deserve different treatment in my book - but they were identical. How about a nice couscous, or risotto with the lamb and a decent portion of veg? The wine list was not extensive, but lots of nice bottles were available and the price point was also very good. The service was attentive and the pacing of the meal was perfect. I'd like to see more descriptives on the menu and a little more creativity - dazzle us with something different!

It's always a pleasure dining at Joseph's! I would highly recommend the pepper steak, cooked tableside, and the fresh spinach salad. I've had their fresh fish specials, too that were wonderful. They also have a nice wine list. I can't wait until they move into their new place across the street. The dining room will be much bigger with an outdoor patio. Nice touch! You're doing a great job of keeping your standards high, Joseph; well done. We will be back!

Wow, what a great local restaurant. I moved to Colorado Springs from Denver last year and have been searching for a local restaurant with character. My boyfriend took me here for our 3 year dating anniversary and it was perfect. Walking in, I was not sure what to think. The decor was quaint and restaurant small, but in the end, well worth the drive from the east side of town. We were immediately greeted and seated. Our waiter was extremely cordial and helpful in providing input on the various menu items. We decided to go with the seafood platter appetizer, a bottle of wine and the Pepper Steak Flambe. While enjoying our app, a gentleman came over and let us know the wine we requested was unavailable. We ordered another wine and again, it was not available. He made a suggestion of another Cabernet and it was wonderful. 5 minutes into our wine, the same gentleman began cooking our filets table side. They were bigger than expected and smelled amazing. It was a 9+ oz steak in a mango chutney. Little did I know, the gentleman who was cooking our steaks was the owner, Joseph! He did all the flambes and throughout the night, spoke to everyone in the restaurant. It really says a lot about an establishment when the owner still participates in the preparation of the food and interaction with the staff and patrons. I was really impressed with this. We ended our meal with the Cherries Jubilee... yum! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy a nice dinner and support local commerce with an owner who still has his heart in the business. Dress is a little more casual, but the food is not.

WOW! Cant wait to come back. Food, service and drinks were nothing short of amazing. A must try! Prices were not bad either. The lobster bisque was divine. Had the STEAK DIANA. Melts in your mouth. Cake and creme brulee...delicious.
(5)Dave B.
4+ rating!! Great service and great food! Portion sizes were right on, a refreshing experience for us foreigners who don't want half a cow for dinner. Well done Joseph!

I really wanted to like this place! I got a Livingsocial coupon for it and I was looking forward to an independently owned fine restaurant, where to have a nice dinner date with my loved one! Unfortunately, I was not impressed. The pros: - Staff was VERY nice and polite. - Presentation of the dishes was absolutely top notch! - Livingsocial deal was very well priced. The cons: - The flavors of the food just were not up to par. My salad's vinagrette was super sour, but at the same time soooooooo super sweet! I don't even know how they achieved such discrepancy. I ordered a pork chop with a pineapple glaze. The chop was INEDIBLE, so overcooked I could not even cut it, let alone chew it. I left the whole thing on my plate and I was not even asked why. I found that very odd. I thought the entire protein left on the plate would grant inquiry...but I guess I was wrong. -The kitchen and dining area are only separated by a glass partition that runs about 8 feet high...so the dining room is incredibly loud and noisy - with all the hustle and bustle coming from the kitchen. Not exactly the ideal soundtrack for a romantic dinner -_- I doubt I will come back, which saddens me, cause I love to patronize locally owned businesses.

This place is such a treat! So happy that more non-chain restaurants are popping up in Colorado Springs. First came here when I was visiting my parents a few years ago and was very impressed. I believe Joseph used to be the chef at the Broadmoor at some point. Came here for New Years Eve and we were not disappointed! The restaurant is small an intimate, and Joseph is there making the rounds! They didn't offer it with their NYE menu, but the table side spinach salad is a must have. I was bummed it wasn't offered on NYE but I totally understand since they make it at the table and it's kind of a show within itself! My mom always gets a chocolate martini, and they make a really good one! This place is well worth the price, appetizers/salads are in the $10 - $15 range and most entrees $25 - $33. Reservations are recommended, this place is small and word is out! They are closed on Sundays, as we sadly learned the hard way when I was out here in July! I definitely look forward to coming back to this gem next time I'm in Colorado Springs!

We had awful meals here. We went there with my son-in-law and daughter to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. I ordered Veal Picata which was tough as shoe leather. It was not in a wine butter sauce, but had a cream sauce (NOT authentic Veal Picata). My husband's escargot was frozen so he had to send it back. It was covered with melted cheese. We never heard of escargot covered in cheese. My daughter ordered duck, and you couldn't find it on the plate. It was smaller than the inside of her palm and it was tough and chewy. My son-in-law said the sauce on the pepper steak was too sweet (covered in Terriaki Sauce). We had a $25.00 coupon which they "accidentally" did NOT honor. My daughter discovered it after leaving the restaurant. They took if off the bill after our phone call. I would say STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. No ambiance and air conditioning was not on so it was extremely uncomfortable on a warm July evening
(1)Rick L.
This has become my favorite "Good" restaurant in Colorado Springs. I used to love the Steak Smith when it was run by the original owners and Joseph's matches. This is our third time and the food every time has been outstanding. The service matches the food. It's not the cheapest restaurant in town, but I feel it is well worth the price. From what I hear, the new location across the street when complete, will make Joseph's that much better.
(5)Lilly O.
So I have to say that my second experience here didnt even compare to the first. The food was great but the service was horrible. They were so un organized. I had to ask for a refill of water 3 different times. When I ordered a drink at the bar the bartender looked very annoyed with me. I felt like I was bothering him. Sadly I dont know if I'll return. Our tab was $150 for 2 of us. I can think of a handful of restaurants I can spend that kind of money on for better service and good food.
(3)Shelly S.
I ate here with my mom on March 8, 2014. I live in Houston so I am used to fine dining so after typing in fine dining on Yelp this place popped up. It was a very sad selection of fine dining restaurants in Co Spgs feel sorry for y'all! The food here was pretty good but different. We had crab cakes for appetizer and they were worst part of meal. They had mostly bread crumbs very little crab. I had the lobster bisque which was awesome, and my mom had the house salad which she liked. The Veal Piccata was very good but had a very thick sauce that tasted good but was not the typical wine and butter sauce that comes with a piccata. All the food had awesome presentations. The worst thing about this place was the service. We were served by the owner his wife and another young girl who could have been his daughter. They were all very nice but I think in fine dining place you should have one person who sees to all your needs I kept having to chase them down for refills, bread, basically everything and it was as they were running by that I yelled them down and never once did anyone ask us how meal was because they didn't even know at what step of food we were at! Next time I visit my mom I might give them one more try but my advice would be hire some professional wait staff and give yourself a break!
(4)Marian S.
We went for Mother's Day brunch. The menu was a prix fixe three-course sit-down brunch, with three selections for each course. I had the jalapeno-artichoke stuffed mushrooms, almond encrusted salmon with black cherry reduction, and chocolate mousse cake. Sounded fantastic, but was just ok. They were out of chocolate mousse cake, so we just had chocolate mousse, which didn't taste fresh at all. The mushrooms were the best part. Here are the major problems I had with the whole thing: We got there five minutes before our reservation time and had to wait about 10-15 minutes to sit down. Our table was there and ready to go, but apparently we had to wait for some unknown reason. They took a while to come around to take our orders in the first place. The wait staff was nice enough, just slow. After we got the first course, which was a small appetizer serving, we waited another 20-25 minutes for the second course to come out. I have no idea what took so long, because it was a set menu. It isn't like anyone ordered anything special. Same thing with the third course. We ended up spending about three hours there. Sometimes it is ok to spend three hours at dinner, but this was a set-menu mother's day brunch. I have no idea what took so long. An hour and a half to two hours would have been better. Beyond that, everything was just old and tired. The chairs were worn and uncomfortable. Everything just seemed old and outdated. Reminded me of late 80s-era fine dining. It was all just old. And tired. And slow.
(2)Sheridan S.
Our meal here was really tasty. Fresh baked rolls coming to the table, fun service and the Mediterranean trout that kept me sneaking bites off my dad's plate. I had the steak Diane, which was pretty good, though a little over-cooked. The decor is kind of old-school, but since I love twinkle lights, I dig it. My goal? To go here one night and order all the flambe dishes.
(4)Joey M.
The pepper filet cooked table-side was amazing. We've had this at another restaurant nearby and Joseph's is FAR superior. The wait staff is friendly and attentive without being stuffy or pompous the way they can get at expensive restaurants, we appreciate that very much. We rounded off our meals with cherries jubilee and bananas foster, both cooked table-side (we had to see Joseph in action again!). Both desserts were very sweet, but a good way to cap off a wonderful experience. We'll definitely be back.
(5)Jeff M.
We visited Valentines day 2/14/14 for dinner at 730. This was our first visit and won't be our last. Our server stated Valentines day is the busiest day of the year for them, but the service was great. The menu had a limited selection due to Valentines day but the crab stuffed chicken was amazing! The staff was very pleasant and professional. The atmosphere was very nice for a special day. The only reason I did not give this posting a 5 star was due to the rather lengthy wait to receive our order. This may be due strictly to the amount of guests they had that night. We definitely will visit again in the future!!!
(4)Tom B.
Wow, I'm not sure what all the hate is about with the other reviewers. I flew into the Springs to see my parents yesterday and I was pretty stoked that they wanted to go to a locally owned restaurant for lunch. Having grown up in the springs, I'm way too familiar with all the chains that seem to have taken over the city so I enjoyed hearing about Joseph's moves from Garden of the Gods club, to the Broadmoor (I think?) and on to opening his own place. Joseph himself was there and when questioned about the quality of his chowder he told my dad that he'd be happy to pay for it if he didn't like it. - Nice to see a proprietor taking pride in his wares and following up after it was served to ask "am I paying for that, or are you?" - Nice touch. Anyway, I had clam chowder and the chicken piccata and both were excellent. Definitely plan to go back when I'm in town over the holidays, etc.
(4)Richard S.
Very nice presentation of the courses we ordered. My martini was very over priced. I ordered what was advertised as a pork tenderloin, it was just a pork chop. My wife had salmon which she thought was good but my taste of it told me that it had been kept around too long. Very nice table and the wait staff seemed to be trying however they certainly lack the polish of the staff at the Pepper Tree or Charles Court. Noise level was very low with some "music" in the background. Would not recommend this place. Spend 20 or 30 dollars more,at best, and try the two places already mentioned or the Blue Star.
(3)Daniela S.
The food here was just not worth what it was priced at. We enjoyed the crab cakes but our entrees were forgettable...literally. I can't even remember what I ordered. The décor was pretty outdated and could stand to be dusted. It wasn't terrible but if you're going to spend the money there are better places to do so in the Springs.
(2)Charles B.
As two exploring foodies we loved the service, food, and atmosphere. Being newer to the fine dining experience , we were beyond satisfied with how all the staff welcomed us warmly. They all served us with skill by being professional but not at all pretentious. Spinach salad flambé was a surprisingly delicious suggestion from Rick, and finishing the lamb and pepper steak with a shared cherry jubilee was perfection! All polished with a smooth local wine. We had a great date.
(5)JoBeth U.
We enjoyed the Colorado Grown Lamb Chops and and the Famous Pepper Steak Flambe. Both were very delicious!
(5)Lauren P.
We had a great experience at Joseph's. We went on a Wednesday evening to celebrate a husband. Service was exceptional and the food was incredible. We had calamari for an appetizer, which is sometimes hard to do in a landlocked state, but they nailed it. My husband had the Calf's liver, and I had the Cobia, which was delectable. It had carmelized ginger and an amazing balsamic glaze, which gave it a sweet finish. We will definitely be back!
(5)Martha M.
Living just a few blocks from Joseph's, I was hoping this would be a go to place for me. While I am excited to see the new location, I am still a bit skeptical. You see, the food is great. It is pricey, but really good food. BUT, the atmosphere has always lacked and this has always been a negative for me. If I am going to pay top dollar for food, I want the aesthetic and atmosphere to compare. It just never has. The huge lobster claw sign on the front is enough to make any foodie drive away. I hope that stays with the old building because it makes it look like a Red Lobster. Also, when you are spending this kind of money on food, to get a plastic menu with pictures of the food on it is a huge turn off. Again, this is not a Red Robin, so the menus should compare to the quality and price of the food. Overall, the atmosphere has always been lacking. I hope they get a professional to do the interior and exterior of the new restaurant. I have MANY friends who just never go to Joseph's because of the sign on the outside and they have "heard" that it is old and dawdy. I can only imagine that the restaurant business is tough, you have really only one chance to make a first impression. And, the consumer's word of mouth is huge. I can tell you as a long time local, the word of mouth has been a draw back for me. I am wishing and hoping for great things for the new restaurant location. I think it will be a great fresh start. I will anxiously be awaiting the new digs. Please spend extra time and attention to the aesthetic of this new place.
(3)Food C.
We had reservations & had to wait about 40 minutes. But, it was worth the wait. We had been there before & knew the food was excellent. The smells from the kitchen were awesome. We were not in a rush, so it was fine, although, I've been in the food business & it would have been nice if they asked if we wanted a glass of wine while waiting. All went well - service & food were excellent. I'd recommend they hire someone to work the reso stand & bar. I know times are tight, but someone would work for low wages in a nice atmosphere for a nice end-of-shift meal. It is about customer service, too.

I've driven by this place hundreds of times but it's dated facade had me fooled to the jewel this place really is. The menu is unique and chalk full of outstandingly rich flavors. You can tell the chef knows and cares about what he's doing. The crab cakes are a must have on any visit. The pasta dishes are amazing. Sauces are fresh and unlike anything you're going to find elsewhere. Lunch is a cheaper way to go if you're on a budget but one visit and you'll understand why this place has survived so many years.
(4)David D.
My wife and I came here for a special occasion and had a wonderful time. The clam chowder was one of the best I'd ever had, and I lived in Boston for years. Joseph made the Hot Spinach Pernod Salad table-side and it was a great treat. The Crab-Stuffed Chicken Marsala was very nice. Whatever you do, do not judge this restaurant from it's outside appearance (it looks like it might once have been a Village Inn or something similar). The food was great, the service excellent, and the owner was a pleasure to talk with. I will be coming back.

Service: My water glass was never empty. It didn't matter what waiter/waitress was walking by, if I needed anything they were on it. They weren't afraid of talking to the customers like human beings either. While they weren't hanging out, there was a comfortableness that let jokes flow naturally and made for a pleasant experience. Food: Now the important part. My wife ordered a white fish that was amazing. I neither remember what it was called nor what it was served with, but it was delicious. I had the special of rabbit; it was a new dish for me. It was served with a raspberry chipotle sauce that complemented the meat perfectly. On either end of the meal we went for a delicious escargot appetizer and a chocolate cake to finish. The cake was good, but I would try one of their flambes next time. Price: Not cheap. Not nearly as expensive as other comparable establishments, but still not going to be an inexpensive date. I will be going back!

First off, I am surprised by the lack of reviews for Joseph's on Yelp, since it is difficult to get a table on weekends without a reservation. My guess, is that the clientele skews much older, and those folks are generally not active Yelpers. After years of living in the Springs, I finally made Friday night reservations for a small group. I really liked the atmosphere of the place. Best described as "casual elegance" -- not stuffy, but still nice enough to make you feel like you are having a 'special" night out. There is team service at the table, and Joseph himself came to our table, and suggested the perfect bottle of wine to accompany our entrees. The specials for the evening were all fish/seafood varieties, and we were highly encouraged to consider them. Our entire group did, each ordering a different variety of fish seafood. We all shared samples with each other, and I have to admit there was not a "loser" in the bunch. So glad we took Joseph's recommendation. The best was a Chilean Sea Bass. Each fish was perfectly and lightly covered with a different finishing sauce. The mashed potatoes were some of the best I have had here in the Springs. We all started with either the house or the Caesar salads, which were very good. I noticed other tables ordering the table-side prepared Spinach salad (will catch that on next visit.) Also, lots of people ordering the table-side prepared pepper steak. I went with a very good Bananas Foster for dessert. Overall, don't know if our group just ordered right, but everything was delicious. The service also was very good and friendly. I will have to return and try their steaks next time to see if they match up to the quality of their seafood. (Oh, and this place is a bit pricey, but I felt the food and service warranted the tab.)

I had been wanting to try Joseph's for some time, so when I saw a Groupon for a 3 course meal for two I jumped on the offer. It would give me the perfect opportunity to test their menu. My fiancé and I made 8:00 reservations. When I was on the phone with them the man I talked to sounded in a hurry and didn't really make me feel welcome, but I am guessing he wasn't a host. When we arrived there was only one other table in the restaurant, but I still felt the need to talk quietly so they could not overhear our conversation. It's not the most private or intimate setting, and the ambiance left something to be desired. It was too quiet, perhaps some music playing would have been nicer. The decor was somewhat blah, not really up to my standards of fine dining, and we were greeted by a girl in street clothes with a white apron, which I thought was pretty classless. Our server was a nice gentleman, but he seemed more like a manager to me. He was not very familiar with the wine list either. The groupon menu was limited but luckily we both found items we were pleased with. We started with our servers recommendation of the goat cheese bruschetta and the jalapeño artichoke stuffed mushrooms. I have to say this course was by far the best and it was absolutely amazing. The bruschetta was different than any I had ever had. The bread seemed to be one of their dinner rolls, but it didn't matter. The presentation was phenomenal and the flavor combinations were spot on. My fiancé had never tried goat cheese but this dish made a believer out of him. He also despises mushrooms but he enjoyed these ones. They were each served with a delightfully tart summer salad with candied nuts and dried fruits in a cucumber ribbon, which we could tell had just been freshly cut since we saw him using the slicer behind the tinted kitchen windows. For our second course I chose the salmon. It was cooked perfectly and not overly dry. Served on red wine risotto, I thoroughly enjoyed the flavor combinations of this dish. My fiancé had the chicken dish, which had a sweet Marsala type sauce. It was also superb, although a bit sweeter than he would have liked. The presentation on both dishes were once again gorgeous. For our 3rd course we chose one of each dessert. The chocolate bread pudding cheesecake was a treat, but the mousse didn't quite do it for me. It tasted a tad bitter like pure cacao, so maybe it needed something to sweeten it up a bit. However, we left feeling full and satisfied. The service was nice, and once that other table left we had the whole place to ourselves. The food will bring us back, because there are other things on the menu I am dying to try. I would recommend this place if you are looking for a fine dining restaurant with a family restaurant vibe. Very tasty.

Don't let the exterior of this place or the neighborhood deter you from trying this place out. When we first pulled up to this place, I thought it looked like it used to be a Chinese Buffet and it's kind of out of place for what it is. Despite all this, Joseph's Fine Dining does pretty well. In all my trips there (about 4 times now) it has always been packed and for good reason. Be prepared to wait if you don't have a reservation. The small staff makes you feel warm and welcome as soon as you walk in. The ambience is cozy and romantic, which is a surprise from the exterior. I always try to get something different every time I come. I've had the Stuffed Mushroom appetizer, which were pretty standard, and the Escargot which were delicious. Don't be scared! Joseph himself is walking around the whole time and executing the table side prepped items flawlessly. These are some of my favorite parts of the menu. The Peppered Steak is amazing and is my boyfriend's go to menu choice. The Bananas Foster is the perfect dessert for eating next to the fireplace. My next table side choice will be the Spinach Salad; it always smells amazing. All in all I've had the Sea Scallops Constantine, Bassa Swai Mediterranean and the Colorado Lamb Chops and they were all perfectly prepared. All (or most) of the entrees come with the same sides: Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Sauteed Veggies. The service is top notch. We always have Rick, who is the best waiter in Colorado Springs (no really that's a real thing) and like I said Joseph is out and about chatting everyone up. If you are in search of a fantastic meal and romantic ambience, definitely give this place a try. BOTTOM LINE: I've never had a bad meal here and I don't expect I ever will.

While Joseph's serves decent food, the atmosphere lacks in class and customer service. The local Broadmoor type are frequent visitors, however their condescending attitudes do nothing for the rest of the patrons. And surprisingly, this low class behavior has rubbed off on the restaurant staff. You'd think they could manage to hire at least one other employee so that all of the diners could receive somewhat acceptable service, but apparently the "exclusivity" of being a server is beyond hiring others in this establishment. We received cold calamari, that was not any better than that at any other chain restaurant, and were left with it at our table for at least 20 minutes before anyone bothered to ask how it was. You'd think a restaurant that holds itself so highly would at least be able to master the service of providing piping hot food. Not so with Joseph's. Our main dishes were good, but not hardly what you'd expect for the price. The Broadmoor has Joseph's beat on quality by a landslide, but somehow Joseph's appears to think they can charge the same amount as their well-deserved neighbors for a sub-par experience. The only standout in this establishment is the flambeed dishes. Unfortunately, the flamed dishes can't begin to make up for the lack in class, poor service and average food that Joseph's provides its patrons. Note to the staff: Class isn't defined by how poorly you treat others who aren't Broadmoor regulars, its how you offer respect and courtesy to people regardless of their wallets.

We went to Joseph's last night for dinner, as we had a Groupon from there to use. The atmosphere is nice; nice table linens, dark lighting and a nice crackling fireplace. I guess they are known for some of their tableside preparations: Spinach salad, Peppercorn Filet, Cherries Jubilee, Bananas Foster. We ordered the crab-stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer- Fair. I didn't think it was anything special but it was ok. We both had steak for dinner- he had the filet and I had the center cut. It was okay, but nothing too spectacular. Both ordered dessert: Vanilla bean cheesecake and Bananas Foster. Both were very good. Though our dinner was good and the service was very attentive, this restaurant is ultimately forgettable. It's definitely nothing special as far as a foodie might be concerned- though you can tell that the restaurant staff as well as the people IN the restaurant all think they are in some sort of upper echelon of haute cuisine. Not so. For all the Mercedes in the parking lot and Chanel purses and diamonds I saw, I've still had a better and more thoughtfully imagined (and cheaper!) meal in Bloomington, Indiana. If you are looking for an alternative to Ruth's Chris or some other similar steak house, this might be a place to try but if you are any sort of foodie or vegetarian for that matter, there are better restaurants in the city.

We purchased a "pay $20 and get $40" coupon off from yelp and went there on a Friday night. We made the reservation online, but when we got there it was open seating so it wasn't necessary. My wife and I had never been there before and when we pulled in we thought that it looked like a "small-town" type place. When we walked in Joseph greeted us and took us to our table. After about 5 min, (kind of a long wait for not being busy) we had someone bring us water and she took our order. We ordered their fried calamari as an appetizer and then ordered the stuffed chicken marsala and the black peppered steak filet. We then gave the server our coupon. After a few minutes Joseph came to our table with our coupon and stated he had never heard of such a coupon and that he needed to call Yelp to verify that the coupon was valid. Nothing was ever said about it again until the end of our meal when Joseph said, "it makes me so mad, I just don't do that kind of stuff." After telling him that I had already paid $20 for the coupon and a brief back and forth conversation on whether or not he would accept the coupon or not he left. When the server presented our check to us the $40 was taken off from the bill. It was really frustrating to see Joseph visit every other table numerous times throughout the night, but not us, it seemed as though he was elementary school mad at us for having a coupon and never talked to us other than about our coupon. On a better note the food was amazing. The peppered steak was cooked table-side and seared in butter and some special caramelized sweet glaze that was perfect with the steak. The crab-stuffed chicken marsala was great as well. I think the only improvement would be a bigger portion of vegetables. One carrot and two sets of asparagus wasn't quite doing it for me. The atmosphere is quite and nice. Don't sit by the windows. It's about a 20 degree difference from the center of the restaurant.

My husband and I were visiting Colorado Springs for a weekend trip to celebrate our anniversary. We chose Joseph's because we purchased a Living Social Deal. The atmosphere was formal, but not overly fancy. The staff were all dressed in random and somewhat casual outfits, it made it hard to tell who worked there. The host/server was very friendly, but the service was somewhat sporadic. Sometimes she was all over it, other times we waited for quite some time for a course or the bill. I was surprised by how small the dining area was. The biggest complaint I have is that the veal my husband selected was very chewy. The flavor was only mediocre as well. The chocolate mousse was quite grainy. However, the mashed potatoes, and the different varieties of asparagus (I have only had the standard green variety up until now), were really great. The plating was very nicely done. I liked the orange salad wrapped in a long cucumber slice. One review here mentions the other patrons and their snooty attitude, I witnessed that as well. And the reviewer who had the "warm crusty bread" last year, well I think they must have served the same basket eleven months later. Hard to eat. I would call this place good, but not great. For the price, I would not return.

We have been to Joseph's twice now and would definitely recommend this place for anybody looking for a good fine dining experience. The atmosphere is great and with some of the new remodeling the place looks really good on the inside. (Don't be fooled by the location and the outside). We've made reservations both times and noticed there is a wait if you don't. Both times we've been we tried a different meal and they were all very good. The plate presentation is also great. They do a few table side preparations, but we have yet to order one. The wait staff was more than friendly and attentive. Definitely go check it out.

What a great find. My wife and I were in town visiting from Texas for her birthday. I made reservations (which is a must). We arrived at 6:50 for our 7pm reservations, it appears that his is when everyone arrived. They were a little short staffed during the initial rush, which affected service briefly, but once they got caught up, it was a wonderful evening. The jalapeno and artichoke stuffed mushrooms were very tasty, with out being overly spicy. My wife had the Filet Mignon. It came topped with a balsamic reduction and sauteed mushrooms. The flavor was outstanding. I had the house special Peppered Steak , fixed table side and WOW what a treat. Both plates had some veggies that had great flavor too. When we next visit Colorado Spring Joseph's is on the list for dinner.

This was the second time I have been there. The food was excellent. Great fresh seafood, better than any chain could offer.
